Anti-Extrusion Back-up RingsWhether you need a solid or scarf cut, rod, piston or another design to fit a certain gland specification, Greene, Tweed has the ability to handle any back-up ring request. |
Cap Seals: Advancap™The Advancap™ rod and piston seals are designed to provide a cost-effective cap seal solution that prevents extrusion and eliminates O-ring spiral failure in dynamic applications. Each seal combines a cap made from Avalon®, our PTFE material, with an elastomeric energizer, and is available in configurations for zero, one or two back-up ring glands per AS4716. Custom configurations are also available. |
Cap Seals: Ener-Cap® II & Ener-Cap® II HPThe Greene, Tweed Ener-Cap® II is a self-actuating, pressure-activated hydraulic seal that optimizes cap seal performance within standard Aerospace seal glands. The Ener-Cap II HP includes one or two anti-extrusion rings to give higher pressure capabilities by preventing extrusion of the PTFE sealing element. The cap seal design results in low breakout and running friction and minimal leakage over an extended service life, making this seal design ideal for dynamic service. |
Cap Seals: Glidetec™Greene, Tweed’s Glidetec™ O-ring energized cap seal offers simplicity and low cost. Suitable for use in spool valves or where AS or MIL spec grooves are not required, the Glidetec seal consists of a low cost energizer and a heavy section cap. The Glidetec seal offers bidirectional sealing, low friction and easy installation in compact single-piece glands. |
Enercam SealGreene, Tweed’s Enercam (patent pending) seal was developed for extremely demanding flight control environments but is also an outstanding choice in a wide variety of applications where superior leakage control and durability are critical. |
Enerlip® & Enerlip® HP SealsThe Greene, Tweed Enerlip® and Enerlip HP are high-performance, low leakage, pressure-variable seals developed to combine low breakaway friction with ease of installation. |
ESE SealGenerally used as a primary rod seal in dynamic tandem systems, Greene, Tweed’s new ESE design is available for use in either one or two back-up gland widths. The ESE provides superior performance in tandem seal applications. Its unidirectional, “self-venting” design is complemented with a high modulus back-up ring that is installable into “closed-groove” configurations for most sizes (unlike that of many standard, metal-spring-energized [MSE®] types). Along with the “self-venting” capability, the ESE design offers low operating friction along a wide operational temperature range. |
Metal Spring Energized (MSE®) SealsThe MSE® seal’s superior designed dual-lip body offers improved sealing performance. An unlimited number of custom-engineered MSE configurations are available. |
O-RingsO-rings are one of the oldest and most widely used styles of seal geometries in the Aerospace industry today. This uncomplicated design provides a suitable, cost-effective solution to a variety of sealing applications. O-rings can be used either as a seal itself or as the energizing element in a variety of PTFE, cap-type seals. |
Rubber Spring Actuated (RSA) SealsGreene, Tweed’s RSA Seal® (Rubber-Spring Actuated) offers low compression set, high tear resistance, modulus, abrasion resistance and long life in rugged operating conditions. |
Rubber Spring Return (RSR™) SealsGreene, Tweed’s RSR™ rod or piston seal features a specially engineered elastomer profile that provides exceptional “dry rod” sealing under dynamic conditions. The RSR’s endless, trapezoidal wedge-shaped back-up ring has an exceptionally wide shear section to ensure excellent resistance to extrusion. In addition, the back-up ring’s shape generates a force vector under pressure, thereby eliminating the extrusion gap. The result: very low leakage and fewer sealing problems. |
Scrapers/WipersGreene, Tweed offers a variety of scrapers and wipers to match any application challenge. From harsh media to extreme environmental conditions, Greene, Tweed provides the most reliable materials and scraper designs available for customization in any application. |
Scrapers: 2270 SeriesThe 2270 series is an O-ring-energized, double-acting PTFE scraper, adapted for nonstandard glands. The 2270 scraper is a low friction, bidirectional design with ingression control that can be used as a secondary seal. An inboard vent is available upon request for reduced pressure trapping when used as a secondary seal. |
Scrapers: RSAThe RSA (Rubber Spring Actuated) scraper provides superior contaminant exclusion in the most rugged service conditions. A compression-activated device, the RSA scraper uses a low com-pression set rubber O-ring “spring” to maintain the constant radial compression that results in continual contact with both the rod and gland diameter—even in extreme cold, under high linear speeds and during heavy side loading. The RSA scraper’s unique radial design virtually eliminates rod wear and prevents rolling or twisting while retaining sufficient upstream fluid to assure lubrication of the primary seal, resulting in extended service life. Additionally, the RSA scraper can be wave cut for ease of installation for nonstandard applications. |
Scrapers: Special SeriesThese “self-venting” O-ring energized scrapers are designed to provide maximum exclusion capabilities when used in Type I or Type II gland configurations of SAE AS4088 and AS4052. The same rod and gland diameters apply for both AS4088 and AS4052 (AS4716 glands with an increased atmospheric lip diameter), and gland widths are variable depending on the specification. Depending on the specification, different gland lip diameters are used. |
Static Face™ SealGreene, Tweed’s Static Face™ Seals are designed to eliminate sealing problems in face-mounted assemblies where large clearances can occur and/or pressures up to 10,000 psi (690 bar) are encountered. Engineered as a “drop-in” replacement for O-rings in seal glands with applied depth and length per MIL-G-5514, the Static Face seal consists of an L-shaped elastomeric sealing element with a hydromechanically energized mating back-up ring. |
T Rings & L Rings: ACGT™ & ACGTL™ RingsWith Greene, Tweed’s ACGT™/ACGTL™ rings seal extrusion gaps and high pressures are not a problem. Both are designed for effective, long-sealing life in high- and low-pressure environments. Additionally, both are engineered to handle a broad range of temperature extremes and fluid media, as well as larger than normal clearance gaps. Systems experiencing 8,000 psi (550 bar) are not uncommon for ACGT or ACGTL seals. |
T Rings & L Rings: ACGT™-HP & ACGTL™-HP RingsWith Greene, Tweed’s ACGT™-HP/ACGTL™-HP seals extrusion gaps and high pressures are no longer a challenge. The ACGT-HP is a bidirectional design while the ACGTL-HP is designed for unidirectional applications. |
T Rings: ACT® RingThe ACT® ring is designed with converging sides in order to promote lubrication for reduced friction and wear, with an apex for force concentration under low-pressure conditions to optimize sealing. The design also enhances oil film passage upon the retract stroke for lubrication of the apex of the elastomer. Our in-house tests demonstrate service life increases by as much as 30 percent over some alternative seal designs. |
T Rings: AGT® RingGreene, Tweed’s AGT® ring, a double-acting rod or piston seal, provides the quality and reliability the Aerospace industry requires. The AGT ring offers an outstanding combination of easy installation, low leakage and long service life for exceptional performance in many static and dynamic sealing applications. Constructed of superior elastomers and thermoplastics to withstand harsh fluid and service conditions, the AGT ring resists O-ring roll and spiral failure. More Information |
T Rings: AGT® S+ RingGreene, Tweed’s AGT® S+ rings have been specifically designed in response to the current SAE AS5857 standard. The AS5857 specification details gland designs that work efficiently and effectively in both high- and low-pressure static applications that require high-squeeze sealing. |
